Richard van Oostenbrugge & Thomas Groot

Classically trained chefs Richard van Oostenbrugge (1975) and Thomas Groot (1985) first crossed paths at Envy in 2008 and later again at Bord’Eau. Here, they received their first Michelin star in 2013 and their second in 2014, with Richard named Gault&Millau’s Chef of the Year that same year. In 2018, they left Bord’Eau’s award-winning kitchen to open the first “no-table restaurant in the Netherlands’’, which they called 212. A year later, they had the title Gault&Millau’s Newcomer of the Year 2019 in their pocket and a Michelin star next to their name.

The experience, creativity and ambition of Richard and Thomas are pushed to even greater heights in front of their guests seated around an open kitchen. Service at the elegant restaurant next to the Amstel river is stripped of all fuss and formality, and so are their plates. It’s all about the end product, the taste, and the overall experience.
